Black and White Photography

Written by admin on April 10th, 2007 in Photography.

Black and white photography has been a part of my life every since the first time I picked up a camera in the late 1970’s. It all started when, while staying home sick from school, I watched an episode of the Brady Bunch where one of the boys (Peter, I believe) was taking pictures of a school football game and caught a key play on film. I watched as he developed his print in a home darkroom and decided that was what I wanted to do.

With the ever present support of my parents, I build a darkroom, gathered all the camera and darkroom gear that I would need and began having a ball!

Now that I shoot mostly digital (Canon 20d) and have spentway more on digital gear than I every dreamed of spending on what I needed for black and white, I am still striving for the perfect black and white print. I haven’t come close to that perfect print yet but I still enjoy every moment of my search.

I just love the smooth silky feel of a good black and white image.

And I just love the look of these kinds of images on my wall.

You have some fantastic shots there… Congrats…

I’m very very partial to B&W photography for all the richness of texture and fullness of detail it can give.
